1993 Ford Explorer “Mom's car”
About the 1991–1994 Ford Explorer
The First-Gen Explorer shows up here doing exactly what it was built for — crawling rocky terrain, plowing through snow-covered forest trails, and getting splattered in mud with a thumbs-up out the window. From bone-stock cargo areas with the tailgate popped open to custom bed builds with beefy Destination A/T tires, these 1991–1994 Explorers prove the platform's range from daily hauler to serious off-road machine.
The story
It's an XLT, Cayman green, has the sport bucket seets which are the most comfortable I have ever sat in, cloth interior, all in great shape. I have replaced the alternator, battery (twice), AC compressor and low pressure hose (also converted to R134) , spark plugs (once), brakes (3 times). I'm on my 3rd set of tires (second set replaced early due to Firestone recall). Fuel gauge is currently not functioning so I refuel at about 300 miles. I get 18 to 20 mpg. I crumpled the left front fender during the Christmas holiday traffic this year and haven't gotten that fixed yet. It's been, and still is, a great car. — WTexasRN
