The Oval (Third-Gen) Taurus earned its nickname from that distinctive rounded styling Ford introduced for 1996, and the builds here show just how far owners push these sedans — from a dark '98 with a custom grille to a pair of '99s rolling on aftermarket wheels. You'll spot a red '97 rocking a front-end bra, a black '99 parked on foggy waterfront gravel, and interior details like carbon fiber trim around the shifter, proving these oval-bodied Fords still get plenty of love.
The story
Having always had good luck with my Fords (except for an '81 Fairmont that vapor-locked when making turns) I went looking for another Ford. After bad luck with 3 used GM's (not my choice, but when you need a car to get to work...you do what you gotta do!) I found this car at a local dealer with less than 42,000 miles on it in November of 2002. I love this car! She's got enough power to do what sometimes needs to be done (like whoopin' some little weiner in a ricer, who thinks his 4 cylinder with cold air intake and a whiney muffler will waste my "family" car), is roomy, and she's a very pretty girl! The Toreador Red paint is glossy and I keep her waxed. An SE/SCS model, she came with a power moonroof, and with the little visual extras I have added-LeBra frontend mask, tinted windows, and a spoiler-she is also a very sporty little sedan. — Taury1969
